Built by a safety professional

A note from our founder:Hello — I’m Mustafa Tok, the safety professional behind PreTaskPlanner. I built this tool to solve a problem I lived with for over a decade on international construction sites: pre-task safety planning that was either rushed, generic, or skipped entirely — not because crews didn’t care, but because doing it properly, every task, every shift, in the languages the crew actually speaks, was slow and hard to sustain under field pressure.

PreTaskPlanner is my answer to that. It generates professional, standards-grounded pre-task safety plans in minutes — breaking a task into steps, identifying the real hazards, and assigning real controls — so that a good plan becomes the easy default instead of the thing that gets shortcut when the day gets busy.

My background

I have over 14 years of experience on overseas construction projects, with much of that time on multinational mega projects in Latin America. My work has spanned heavy civil construction, industrial facilities, and large-scale federal and infrastructure projects — the kind of environments where a single overlooked hazard or communication gap can become a serious incident.

Across those years I watched the same pattern repeat on site after site. The crews who planned the task before they started it — who actually thought through the steps, the hazards, and the controls — were the ones who went home safe. And the planning itself was too often the weak link: a generic form copied from yesterday, a hazard analysis written at a desk and never checked against the field, a plan in English that half the crew couldn’t fully read. The thinking that prevents incidents was sound; the tooling that should have made it fast, consistent, and multilingual simply didn’t exist.

That experience is what pushed me to build a tool that produces the same rigorous pre-task plan — the same standards, the same structured hazard-and-control thinking — quickly, and in the languages a real crew speaks: English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Turkish.

I hold the following active certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) — the most recognized credentialing body for occupational safety professionals in North America:

In addition, I am an OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer, with my training authorization received through the OSHA Education Center at Alabama State University.

Why I built PreTaskPlanner

Most AI tools that generate safety content are built by software teams who have never stood on a jobsite. I built PreTaskPlanner as a safety professional who has — and the difference shows up in the output. Every plan it produces reflects how pre-task planning actually works in the field, not a theoretical framework written from an office.

Three principles guide the product:

• 1. Grounded in real standards. Plans are built on authoritative requirements — OSHA 1910 and 1926, EM 385-1-1 for federal and USACE work, and country-specific local codes — with the governing standard matched to the actual work and location, not guessed at. The citation logic is driven by the standards that genuinely apply, not by whatever sounds plausible.
• 2. Real-world applicability. A pre-task plan is only useful if a crew can actually use it. The output breaks the task into real steps, names specific hazards, and assigns controls that follow the hierarchy of controls — the kind of plan a foreman can brief at the start of a shift and a crew can sign and follow, not compliance theater.
• 3. Equal quality across languages.The Spanish, Portuguese, and Turkish output is not an afterthought or a raw machine translation. Each language follows the same standards and structure and uses region-appropriate terminology and regulatory references, because a plan the crew can’t fully read is a plan that doesn’t protect them.

My philosophy

Pre-task planning is not a paperwork exercise. It is the difference between a crew going home and a crew attending a funeral. After 14 years watching what works and what doesn’t on real jobsites, I’ve come to believe that the single highest-leverage safety habit is the one most often shortcut under pressure: stopping before the task to think through the hazards and the controls, honestly, with the people doing the work.

PreTaskPlanner exists to make that habit fast enough, consistent enough, and accessible enough in every crew’s language that there’s no reason to skip it. The goal is not to replace the judgment of a competent person — it’s to give that judgment a faster, more consistent starting point, so the plan is better and the planning gets done.

I also believe a safety tool has to be honest about what it is. PreTaskPlanner is a starting point and an accelerator, built on real standards and real field experience — not a substitute for a qualified person’s review, a site-specific assessment, or the field verification that turns any plan into actual protection. It’s designed to make good planning the easy default, and to be straight with you about where the tool ends and your professional judgment begins.
